About the Welsh Health Survey

The Welsh Health Survey is designed to collect information about the health of people in Wales. We aim to talk to everyone who is asked to take part in the survey to get an accurate picture of health in Wales. This information can't be collected any other way.

The information we collect from respondents is used to help plan health services in Wales, inform health policies, and look at ways of improving people's health.  The information collected each year will make it possible to see whether the nation's health changes over time.

What is the Welsh Health Survey Boost?

In 2011, we're also asking adult respondents in Welsh Health Survey Boost addresses for their permission to link their survey answers with information from other records, like GP, hospital and education records.

This is an extra part of the study designed to make the survey information that we collect even more useful. By linking survey information, it is possible to get a better understanding of the health, lifestyle and circumstances of people in Wales.
